A Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham

2.0

I felt like this book made precious little sense. Plus, it was so long-winded in parts and just plain heavy-handed in others, as if a neon sign were flashing over the red flags, red flags that the protagonist still somehow manages to miss. I think a lot of this has to do with my fatigue over unreliable female narrators who abuse drugs and/or alcohol, and the lengths books featuring them often need to go to in order to make the plot sound even somewhat feasible. Instead, they annoy me, and every time I find myself frustrated with how dense the female characters come off as being.
