False Impression by Jeffrey Archer
4.0

An elegant woman in England is murdered the night before 9/11, a young woman is unceremoniously fired in the North Tower of the World Trade Center in NYC minutes before a plan strikes the building, An honors graduate is working as a secretary for an insufferable boss and an FBI agent is trying to figure out what connects these people and the hired assassin, the unscrupulous henchman, the favorite-uncle type driver, and the art historian old flame. Lots of twists and turns in the art world involving New York City, London, Bucharest and Tokyo, all centering on Van Gogh's last self-portrait. Archer writes a good international thriller, much like Dan Brown but with clues smart readers can follow rather than the hyper intellectual discreet clue from Da Vinci Code books. If you can get past people hopping on planes without a thought to the cost or actual purchase and doing just fine in spite of injury that should cause pan and slow them down, you'll enjoy this well told, fast paced story. Plenty of tension and blind alleys but an overall fast and good read.
