It's definitely a YA novel, lots of very broody moments and on-the-nose descriptions of stuff (grief, racism, etc). Best part was the last 1/16th of the book with the huge twist and some more context about her story/family history. HOWEVER the big twists (multiple) didn't feel earned because there was like only one that we could have predicted based on context clues that we were already given. Also it feels like there is less of a love triangle going on and more setting up a poly/throuple situation? I'll read the next one only because I want to know what happens.
