This book is about a woman and her friend's daughter reflecting back on their time in Vietnam during the war.  This story was interesting because it wasn't something that I knew about - wealthy US women that are leaving in Vietnam during the war, but they aren't in the trenches and are still living a high society life.  The book felt very slow to me (I did read it quickly though).  It felt like it was more of a meditation from the main character.  I would have liked more happening in the book and make it a little faster paced.  I read The Women this year and that book about Vietnam and women I thought was so much better than this one.
