Among Friends by Hal Ebbott
1.5
This was one of those stories where, upon finishing, you can’t help but wonder if it needed to be told.
It’s a story of a bunch of codependent middle-aged white people who secretly hate each other, and then one ends up being particularly evil (read the trigger warnings I guess but also the synopsis didn’t really prepare me at all)
Additionally, the writing went from incomprehensible (I found myself needing to reread constantly) to hauntingly beautiful one-liners, which were the saving grace of the book
