The first two-thirds of this book was great, and then things dropped off after the time jump. The author was clearly trying to make a point about what average people do in bad situations, but reading about average adults in bad situations is much less sympathetic than reading about children. I didn't care for Dylan or Eclair, and I found the use of the r-slur to be unnecessary (especially because Jo was the one telling the whole story as an adult). Idk man, I'd skip this one because the ending is so unsatisfying.
