5 STARS 😭😭😭😭
I. AM. STILL. PROCESSING. THIS. BOOK! Rebecca Yarros, you got me with this one! Like so many others I read that last page and flipped it thinking there was a back side and discovered that was not the case. If you were going for shock value (which I'm pretty sure you were), you succeeded! I stayed up all all night to finish this book because it got me hooked.
The attachment you made me feel to all of these characters in the mist of the chaos is crazy! Each page I was hoping that the ending wasn't going to wreck me as hard but I knew as I got closer it would. This whole book it felt like Xaden's goodbye to Violet. On the other hand for Violet, it seemed like a love letter reminding him that she's with him every step of the way and that would never change, even with his full decent into venin mode.
The fantasy world building in this was a masterpiece. I loved that we got to travel to more locations within the book. It kinda reminded me of how in Avatar the Last Airbender how the gang travelled from island to island at the beginning of their quest. And of course I loved it! I feel like a lot more exploring and discovery happened, especially because of some certain dragons appearing (also how dare they be rude to our beauty sassy baby Andarna!). 😉 😉
While I do desperately need the next book to cure my sadness, I understand that it takes tons of time and effort to write. Rebecca, please take all the time you need, the true fans will weather the storm of the emotional damage and wait until you are ready to fly again. Until then I will "look for you"...specifically signs of your writing and leave it all in your hands, "it's yours now" for the healing and writing. Thank you! ❤️💔
