I liked this book, I thought it was a cute, cozy fantasy and I really appreciated the representation here!

I liked our trio of characters, I liked how Mat, August, and Frankie bantered and teased each other. I felt like it made their relationship more authentic. I also was interested in the vastness of the world. There were a lot of different magic types, and a lot that could be done with stories here in the future.

I knocked the points down a bit because I felt like everyone jumped into a relationship rather quickly but I didn’t really feel like each couple had a ton of common ground. It felt more like just getting together with the person you spent the most time with rather than someone you truly connected to.

I also wanted a little more direction in the world. I felt like so many types of magic were covered that at the end I was struggling to keep track of everything and everyone! Focusing on a few types of magic would have made the plot a bit stronger.

Overall, I had a nice time reading this book. It’s cute and I see potential in future installments.
