London is the Best City in America by Laura Dave

5.0

This book has no great romance, there is no mystery for the reader to solve nor is it laugh out loud funny. What it is is a quaint story about love, life, loss and how the choices we make effect us and those around us.

Just days before his wedding to his long time girlfriend Josh Everett reveals to his somewhat estranged sister, Emmy, that he is also in love with someone else. This comes as a shocking blow to Emmy who once found herself on the opposite side of that coin, not only because she has been there before herself but also because she is maid of honor and best friend to Josh's fiance Meryl. However, when Josh makes it clear that he needs to see this other woman one last time and wants Emmy to join him she obliges and soon sees that sometimes life's choices are not always black and white.

Laura Dave is a great storyteller who keeps the reader invested in the characters that she has created. The story is well paced, never drags and is not overdone. I will definitely be on the look out for more titles by this author!
