I usually hate male authors, but the way Jeffrey Eugenides writes its just so real. Usually male authors sexualize the women just to sexualize them (John Green) but Eugenides sexualizes them not because he sees the girls this way but because everyone else sees them this way and that’s the whole point of the story. He’s just a good author. Plain and simple. The story is a sad but beautiful one. For me it clearly made the point that girls are only girls. That we can’t ask too much from them. That we can’t put so much pressure on them. That they aren’t always perfect and we need to stop thinking they always will be. That they need love and freedom and omg guess what?! They’re real human beings!!! Jeffrey Eugenides is an amazing author and I will be reading him in the future.
