Growing up in a small town in the middle of Yorkshire England, I was enamored by the detailed and rich way King is able to imagine this fictional town of Salem’s lot. This is a horror about vampires slowly killing and taking over the town, but it’s also equally a study and appreciation of small-town living. Even though it’s so American, there’s something so relatable about the feel King is able to conjure when it comes to this sparse and tired town. This book is awesome and written like poetry. A long-form poem about the horrors of sparse little towns and villages and what secrets and horrors they may hold.
