Zami: A New Spelling of My Name by Audre Lorde
challenging

This book hurt and held me in so many parts of it. The history of black lesbians in New York ( where I'm from and still am ) and Audre's history being black in New York is just. It was so much. The amount of things she had to go through tore me a part but made me happy she still lived such a full life doing amazing work. I think reading about her in Mexico was my favorite part and I'm definitely going to return to this book again someday ( but slowly because it triggered me a LOT )
