there are a lot of elements to this story that i love, but it felt very rushed, especially the ending. this reads to me more like a fanfic than a published novel, and i say that as someone who lives and breathes fanfic. there is a lot more that could be explored and polished before it would be something i would rate 3 or more stars.
the horror elements were wonderful, and i loved the story involving Tamsen and Presley. i would have been interested in more of that storyline. everything with Martyr and Ambrose felt too rushed and disjointed, and at times too forced. i liked what the author was going for, but the execution fell flat. all that being said, i am very much looking forward to reading more from this author.
