Juniper & Thorn by Ava Reid

This book made me so uncomfortable at certain points- but in a way that felt purposeful and meaningful. Abuse, violence, and greed are uncomfortable things, and this book tackles those issues.

I thought Marlinchen was such an interesting character, someone who had a lot of manipulation and lies force fed to her and internalized from birth, meaning she had a LOT to work through.

I also thought the look at womanhood, girlhood, and sexuality was really interesting but also sad in many ways.

Generally, I would recommend, unless you have issues with gore and cannibalism (metaphorically and literally).
