The Keeper of Night by Kylie Lee Baker

5.0

Oh. My. God.

Like, I was hooked from the first few pages and then I just get 300 pages of this amazing fantasy with action and mythological creatures?

The writing was so good. I absolutely loved how Japanese mythology was explained for someone like me who is not familiar with it, but also how it was done without feeling like exposition.

The characters are absolutely wonderful and very compelling. I love the brother-sister relationship that Ren and Neven have because they feel like realistic siblings but also with the bond that we see in fantasy novels. And I really liked Hiro because we keep learning about him as the story goes on and so I like how we know some about him, but not all. He is a very compelling character and is the reason for 90% of the humour in this book.

If you like fantasy and mythology, I highly recommend this. I needed the second book yesterday.
