I think a lot worked in this story. The second chance romance and the forbidden workplace romance were really entertaining to read. Shayna and Lee have a complicated history and I loved how that played into their reunion. The sort of enemies to lovers is always something that's going to light sparks between characters. All those sparks lead to some good spice too!
My main issue with the story is the third act conflict. I think it just wasn't executed well and left me feeling like the ending wasn't a true HEA. It seemed the heroine had to give up so much and the hero gave up nothing. Plus everything was swept under the rug so fast I barely had time to blink before it was over. I think I just felt repercussions should have happened for both of them, not just one.
Besides the third act conflict resolution, I think this is a really enjoyable second chance sports romance.
