The Bloodless Princes by Charlotte Bond
3.0
I was looking forward to this sequel, and while this was a nice continuation, it also fell somewhat flat for me, unfortunately.
I think the main reason for that was that The Bloodless Princes has much more of a fairytale vibe? The entire plot, and how mythology, folklore and storytelling all became real things in this one rather than just an extension on the worldbuilding like in The Fireborn Blade. It wasn't bad, it was just a very different vibe. It did expand on the woldbuilding, at least in regard to mythology, and further established the murky way humans are aware (or not) of their own history.
I also both liked and disliked the role of the dragon(s) in this one. On the one hand, dragons were more present, but on the other, they played a much smaller role rather than dominating the narrative.
All that said, there finally was the promised sapphic romance! It didn't play a huge part, but it was present, so, yay!
