The Humans by Matt Haig

2.0

Once the premise of Matt Haig's novel is discovered it doesn't take much imagination to guess the ending. Especially as he sign-posts it about a third of the way in. The concept of an alien's take on the human race has been seen before on TV shows such as Star Trek, Mork and Mindy and Third Rock from the Sun. So it's a pity that Haig does not take the opportunity for greater social satire. A good example is the visit to a football match, in which the protagonist comments on the taste of cola and crisps.
