Amazing Fantastic Incredible: A Marvelous Memoir by Peter David, Colleen Doran, Stan Lee

adventurous funny inspiring lighthearted fast-paced

5.0

I didn’t expect this one to go by so quickly, but it’s probably because it was an illustrated memoir, a fact I should have investigated before picking up the audiobook lol

That said, the audiobook also did not disappoint. Stan Lee didn’t narrate in its entirety, but provided a foreword. The narrator, Peter Riegert, is an amazing character actor. He almost sounded a little like Stan! I loved that the audiobook read like a radio serial, something that Stan mentions inspired him growing up.

I’ve always been a Marvel girl. My dad was a big superhero comic book guy. Growing up, we always read comics and watched tv and movies together. It was the X-Men, specifically Storm, that had me cementing my love for Marvel comics.

My only gripe is that it was so short! I wanted to hear more about the founding of Marvel comics and building the MCU. I am so glad he had a few remarks about his cameos in the movies. But he really is for the fans. And that comes out so clearly.

RIP, Stan, and thank you for creating these fantastical, inspirational stories. 💕
