After Alexis Montgomery gets stranded on the side of the road and a handsome stranger tows her out, her life is flipped upside down. Alexis meets Daniel Grant— a ridiculously good looking man who’s a decade younger than her, a carpenter, and owner of a b&b. On top of that— he has a dog AND A BABY GOAT IN PAJAMAS? (okay, technically the baby goat is his friend’s but he is watching said goat!!)
Alexis comes from a whole other life— 2 hours north in Minneapolis where she’s an ER doctor and heir to a whole legacy of doctors in the Montgomery line. Her past relationship ended sourly with the hospitals chief of surgery and her parents are putting pressure on her to get back together with him. But, every minute she spends with Daniel and his small community, Alexis begins to realize what she wants for her life rather than what has been laid out for her.
I absolutely adored this book and flew through it in 24 hours. I loved reading and seeing mentions of places in Minnesota that I had heard of before!
It was frustrating to see Alexis get treated the way she did by her parents and ex boyfriend. She deserved so much better and I am glad she found her way to Daniel. Daniel is amazing— definitely a new book boyfriend for me. He’s so patient with her. Throughout the book he teaches her things that one may consider basic, but Alexis has never had to learn before. From cooking to cleaning to flipping the breaker on her electricity box, not once does Daniel make her feel like an idiot. He makes Alexis so happy and I loved to see the progression of Alexis’ thoughts through the book.
