3.5
3.5 stars. This was fun, and so different than what I was expecting!
Loved:
•Cinder’s character. She was very sweet and also strong, and very logical. I like it when characters aren’t complete frickin idiots. And she’s a brilliant mechanic too, I love that for her.
•The budding romance between Cinder and Prince Kai was so cute. I wish Cinder was a bit older though
•The general plot was fun and interesting. Never read a cyborg story before, or very much sci-fi in general. It was a nice change of pace for me! (Fantasy girlie, through and through)
Critiques:
•the foreshadowing of “the big reveal” was a bit heavy handed. But I’m reminded this is YA and this is for children/teenage audience, so I guess that’s fine
•the CONSISTENT and REPEATED misspelling of the word “lifted” was incredibly irritating. It was misspelled as “listed” at least three times that I can remember. Maybe it’s just my copy (from a used bookstore) but man it was annoying.
•the pacing was decent, but it did feel a bit draggy at points.
Overall I really liked it, and am so glad I finally read it! Hopefully starting the next in the series soon. ☺️❤️
