this is a must-read for any japanese diaspora kids and/or foreigners living in japan. myself being both, i found myself relating deeply to the main character and the struggles she went through balancing her american and japanese identities while trying to navigate life in japan, connect with her culture, and thrive when she didn’t believe she could.
