This book made me role my eyes so hard. I try so hard to find good trans representation and I feel like there just isn’t any. It is so common that trans men get written as assholes and it makes it very hard for me to feel seen. I’m not going to be able to connect with a self centered jerk. It’s okay for a character to have layers and make mistakes but Noah was just so unlikable. Noah spends the first half of the book being so self centered and chronically online. Becca should have never forgave him bc he was such a dick and never changed his actions.
In addition, none of the characters were even remotely developed or well written. Devin could been such a great character but eir only personality traits are that e have anxiety and are non binary. There are only so many poorly written panic attack scenes a person can read.
Also, Noah and Drew’s relationship. They went from friends, to fake dating, to madly in love, and then we took a sharp turn and all of a sudden Drew is possessive. Plus, may I mention that Drew had reason to be jealous bc Noah was in love with Devin. I hate when characters can’t just be friends. Every mentioned character must be a love interest.
I am a strong believer that strong dialogue can save a book, unfortunately this book had some of the most poorly written dialogue I’ve ever read. Not a single emotion was conveyed through dialogue or actually in general throughout the whole book.
It’s safe to say I don’t recommend this book. 1/5 stars
