The Salmon of Doubt: Hitchhiking the Galaxy One Last Time by Douglas Adams
5.0
This book made me both happy and sad.
Douglas Adams passed on from a heart attack in 2001. He never completed his book.
The Salmon of Doubt shows what would have been in terms of the 11 chapters enclosed.
What made this even more of a delight are his various articles and short stories that showcased what goes on in the mind of this genius.
Reading and re-reading some of the articles... One can't help but wonder what would have been.
Notorious for not being good with writing deadlines (I hear you... it is tough sometimes), he used to be locked in a hotel room with no phone line etc...
I am glad I decided to read the five books in his The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy “trilogy” series. I have decided to put off the other two Dirk Gently books because the abruptness and knowing that nothing else will be written by this brilliant man saddens me.
The forewords and eulogy just prove how much he is loved... and I am sure still sorely missed.... From what is gathered from what has been said about him, he was not just a big man (almost seven feet), but he had a big brain and big heart too.
RIP Douglas Adams.
