The Glassmaker
by Tracy Chevalier
3.5 stars rounded up for the ending! This was a fascinating and immersive look into Venice and Murano and the glass trade there - perfect prep for my trip in May. I’ve never read a book that uses time quite like this one does, so that was fascinating as a technique, and I was enamored with the family, particularly the women and all the many offspring, and touched by the romance. I found the historical portions to be a bit slow in the first half but things really picked up for me towards the second half, and once again, that last chapter hit so hard.
