Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros
medium-paced
5.0

Finally finished my deep dive readthrough...and the ending still has me as confused as the first time 😅 granted I feel like its meant to...
This readthrough I was able to pick up on a lot more breadcrumbs and standout info that I just glanced over the first read...
Going to let this all sink in and then I'll go over all my spreadsheets to see what new theories I have and what new questions I need answers too...

First thoughts...holy shit that was amazing.
Onyx Storm is set a the same, or possibly even faster, pace as Fourth Wing. So those of you who didn't appreciate pace and size of Iron Flame should easily get through this book fast and happily. It did not feel like it was 779 pages [I read the Kindle version...I guess the hardcover is 544]
I was so excited because there were quite a few questions/theories that myself and others had that were definitely answered/confirmed in this third book which was so exciting...and made me feel less like a freak for how heavily annotated and marked up my copies of FW and IF are 😅
Since I'm impatient I definitely bought the Kindle version so I could start at the midnight release and read in any spare second I had...and only really marked a few quotes I liked...definitely not a deep dive read for the first read.
My plan is to now go back and reread FW and IF and see how many things I foresaw coming or what theories of mine came true...and then once I've gone through both of them again...I'll do a deep dive into a physical copy of Onyx Storm so I can annotate and mark it up as well ^^
