The Women of Troy by Pat Barker
4.0

I had a slow start to get back into their world and where they were. I wish I had read this one closer to when I read the first one (Silence of the Girls). Once I was back in their headspace however, I was all in. Briseis is a beloved character to me; I didn't know until this book that her story in history is a question mark to any who ask. She was just forgotten about, no surprise. I love Barker's take on the fall of Troy, from the women's perspective. It was so easy to put myself in their shoes, see where I'd walk or fall in them.

The concurrent undertone of the story is how this book both represents a feminist view and resonates so well with its' reader. We are strong and capable and clever, but we are also just bodies at some point and to some. In both past and present, this theme runs true for women.
