Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
5.0
What can I say… this book left me speechless.
This was a quick and easy read. But don’t let that fool you. Bradbury has left his readers with thick and heavy thoughts to ponder as they meander through this classic. How did books become illegal? And why do firefighters start fires instead of stop them? Is the evolving technology to blame for the lack of public interest in books?
He quickly tells the tale of rebellion and the dangers of knowledge- how it often leads to questioning authority as well as seeking the “why” behind rules and regulations.
In my humble opinion, this is a must read for anyone. It gave me a sense of encouragement to use my voice and never back down. It is encouraging to see a protagonist find beauty in rebellion and it is easy to feel the passion Bradbury felt as he hurriedly typed away. Ironically, this book was written in a library!
In the end, his book finds the beauty in the unknown while daring his readers to believe in themselves.
