I bought this on a whim, and with a giftcard (so I don’t feel 100% guilty about DNF-ing). It sounded interesting, a beast charmer (more like a fantasy version of a Pokémon trainer) and an assassin team up to break a curse (which is what the blurb on the back implied, but 70 pages in, and it never came up, even after the two strike a deal). The lack of worldbuilding, along with the very vague descriptions of everything else, was kind of frustrating. I also really didn’t enjoy finding out that it wasn’t just a dual POV, but that other POV’s are sprinkled throughout. The only other POV I read besides Leena’s and Noc’s, was Ozias, and tbh, I didn’t think an added POV was necessary, it certainly wasn’t enlightening for whatever was going to happen during the rest of the story.
