lgallo 's review for:
A Sorrow Fierce and Falling
by Jessica Cluess
Really, the beginning of the book threw me for a loop - it seemed like I'd missed a few months of character development, which the author explained by saying she had been at Sorrow-Fell for a hot minute. I know why it was that way, but then the treatment of Blackwood and Howel's relationship gets sent through a wringer, both in emotional and physical terms. Also, the slut shaming annoyed me, even if it became a sticking point for the author; I know, the historical accuracy, the characterization of Blackwood, blah blah blah. Thank God for Magnus.
In terms of plot wrap up, specific to William and Henrietta, I am really all for how that turned out (just can't spoil it for everyone). Rook and Henrietta, I am completely aghast - that was the easy way out.
Overall a satisfactory conclusion to the series.
