Kinsey and Me: Stories by Sue Grafton

3.0

This is a nice complement to the alphabet mysteries. The first section of the book is a compilation of all of the short stories featuring Kinsey, following a short essay on the challenges of writing a short story v. novel. The essay set the scene well, and the stories are a good addition. They range from a very short story that plays like a riddle all the way to longer fully-contained tales that are neatly wrapped up.

The second section of the book then segues into short stories about Kit Blue, who Grafton refers to as her younger self. These tales have some darkness, but provide some insight into what fed into how Grafton crafted Kinsey.

I think the book successfully delivers exactly what it promises: a collection of the Kinsey short stories and a look into the author's background and mindset in the formation of Kinsey and Kit.
