The Maidens by Alex Michaelides

3.0

I liked the concept of this book.
But I felt like the author placed a lot of these creepy characters into the books to create more of a shock when the real murdered was revealed/just to throw you off.
Henry was introduced at the start of the book, but kept popping up randomly to remind you that he could possibly be the one murdering the girls, when I think it was pretty obvious he had absolutely no tie to the college. I don’t feel like he added anything to the plot.
I also felt like Fred was super creepy to Mariana (like all the other males in this book) but at the end when it was revealed he was not the murderer it was like the author wanted to be like ‘look he didn’t kill anyone so he’s a good guy’, like no he is still super creepy.
I liked the ending and the plot twist, but I don’t think it was thought out as well as ‘the silent patient’.
