When a prophecy is given to the Pandavas in their war against the Sleeper, they interpret their mission to be to find the Tree of Wishes. On this mission they will encounter new gods, monsters, and emotional challenges to get closer to defeating the Sleeper. This is a complex adventure that explore secrets, trust, and motivations of people in conflict.

The highlights of these books are the themes and the creative mythos that build the story. There is found family, validation of different abilities, gender norm subversion, and emotional support throughout this story. I love how Chokshi handles these topics. The settings for each scene is vivid and action-packed. I love the characters in this series. In this book, we meet three new characters that are vibrant and loveable.

Unfortunately, Aru is not my favorite of these characters so the narration often lacks some vibrancy for me. The dialogue and action sequences are stronger. Also, sometimes the namedropping gets heavy-handed throughout the book and I am lost in trying to remember how everything is connected. Lastly, the pacing is weird. I usually like stories with a time limit since it keeps the pacing top of mind. However, this felt as though separate scenes were written and then cut together and I had a hard time figuring out how time passed in each scene.
