Icebreaker by Hannah Grace

3.0

For all the hype that this book got I felt a little disappointed. It’s really an average read at best. I even found that I enjoyed the second half of the book soooo much more than the first half.

I’m all for the romance and smut, but to me it felt like Hannah Grace was using it as a crutch. There is so much sex in the beginning that at a certain point I just started flipping the pages through the sex scenes. Also, I was having a hard time trying to understand Nate’s character. It felt like he was supposed to be portrayed as really sweet, but then he moves into this sort of Christian Grey character when he’s having sex. Very weird.

Take the smut out of the book and it’s a whole 150-200 pages too long lol. The story is mediocre at best without it. Girl meets boy, they both play ice sports, fall in love, and she accidentally gets pregnant for him. The end I will say though, Aaron was superbly written because I hated his guts the whole time.

I really thought there was going to be some really amazing writing by the way people raved about it, but I really do think it’s a basic read. If I saw it on the bookshelf again I don’t think that I would buy it.
