This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens

It’s interesting because I get why this book got some bad reviews. It is nothing like I expected, it’s actually so much better.

I thought it would be a fluffy rom-com but it was so deep. It was funny, but also sad and hopeful. Definitely not a steamy romance, but still a beautiful little love story.

The premise is obviously very fantastical and not practical, as are the characters… but I found this helped to lighten a book with a lot of heavy themes.

I loved the love story between the two best friends: Minnie and Leila, and all the side characters too.

The parents had so much depth in this book, and really drove home that you just can never know what someone’s home life is like… no one has a perfect family, and sometimes you think you’d be better off with someone else’s, but meanwhile they’re thinking the same thing about you….

Anyways - if you’re expecting a fluffy or steamy romance, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for a good comedy with some really great (although somewhat sad) plot lines and characters, I think you’ll love this book
