I thought this was a standalone!!!
Consider me disappointed when I reached the ending with more questions than answers...
I enjoyed this so much. It took me a while to get into the story but once in it, I couldn't stop reading it. I genuinely love the prose and the dialogue / letter exchanges in this so much. So poetic and so romantic!! I also loved the setting. The author describes it so vividly, I had no hard time visualising the story.
The depictions of war are unsettling. Although it's not extremely graphic, I consider yourself warned.
The story was quite predictable until the very end but it didn't bore me in anyway. It still had its twists and turns that I enjoyed quite a lot. I think I'm more curious to find more about Dacre and Enva now. Hopefully we get to read more through their perspectives in the next book.
