Nausea by Jean-Paul Sartre
1.0
This was genuinely one of the most boring books I have ever read. I have not a single positive thing to say about this book besides that the concept of an epistolary existential book is cool enough in theory. Sarte's writing tested my patience more than anything ever. His useless and repetitive descriptions of random locations, digressions on fake paintings by fake painters, needless details about the life of a made up historical figure, all of which are besides Roquentin's world-salad mumblings make this a nightmare to read. I understood Sartre's goal of having Roquentin be an example of his "bad faith" living, but good god that didn't save this novel from being an utter sludge to get through.
