This was such a page turner after a bit of a slow-paced start! I'm not a huge Arthurian legend person and would've read this book without that aspect, but the author did such an amazing job combining historical magic systems and practices. I will say I was surprised this is categorized as YA fiction, particularly with rape being so central to the ancestral story as it unfolds. Sometimes I couldn't escape the fact that some of the characters were so young in how they processed and responded to certain situations. But I guess falling in love over the course of the entire book which only spans a single month at a pre-college program fits the demographic lol. I can't wait to read the sequel!!
