She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan

5.0

I don’t understand how she managed to fit so much into 400 pages! The story, the characters, the amount of depth every single character had. We follow Zhu through 20-something years of her life and it should feel rushed but the pacing is so perfect.
I would just like to reiterate that in 400 pages we deal with power, corruption, war, gender, sexuality, love, hate, betrayal across MULTIPLE POV’s and all the characters dwelt in the moral grey and they all mattered to me! This book was near flawless. I’m still a bit speechless.
