cflinterman 's review for:
Maurice
by E.M. Forster
I very much liked this book, which describes the life of Maurice, a man who finds that he loves man in a society that doesn't tolerate this - England in the beginning of the 20th century. Homosexuality is still a crime (it was until 1967) and to complicate matters more, class is also a big issue. However, these problems are not the main theme of the book; love is. E.M. Forster has a great style and has written a beautiful story about love that conquers all and how two man find themselves loving each other. What I especially liked was the overall positivity of the story, although one can't help to feel sorry for the characters at some points.
