This has been one of my favorite reads this year! I cannot recommend this enough for anyone who is a horror fan. I didn’t expect this story when I first heard this was our book club selection for May, but I’m so glad it was!

Shesheshen and Homily’s relationship is absolutely wonderful! I love the sapphic relationship between a monster and the daughter/sister of infamous monster hunters. This story is one that my mind keeps coming back to and I feel like I will absolutely re-read this in the future.

I did not expect the twist at the end, but it made the story that much better to me! The setting, cast of characters, and how the story progressed was perfect. I did not anticipate loving this book as much as I did and I regret not hearing about it sooner so I could experience this before I did.

The narration by Carmen Rose was absolute perfection for this story and these characters. She truly brought the characters to life and embodied Shesheshen so wonderfully! The almost deadpan delivery of Shesheshen’s thoughts worked perfectly, and her portrayal of Homily was amazing. This is one I would definitely recommend listening to the audiobook for.
