•My Thoughts•
What a wild ride! This world is absolutely twisted and brutal and it was hard content to read at times. I loved the way science was incorporated and how the experimenting got out of hand and how it was woven into the world. I’m super interested in the evil government and its plans with everyone on the experimental island. The cast of characters were interesting and likeable (or hateable as they were supposed to be) with a lot of grey layers and depth which I appreciated. I especially liked our female main character, Briar, and her determination and strong sense of right and wrong. The romance was both slow and fast (slow to develop but then moved quickly once it got set up) and I enjoyed it even as I wanted a little more time in the tension. I’m a sucker for the psychological dive this took me on and found the world so interesting. I devoured this so quickly and was entertained the whole time. I will definitely read the next book when it comes out!
Thank you to Brenda Rothert and Hambright PR for the early copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
*Spice Note: The nature of the mysterious island dynamics was very primal and instinctual. There was a lot of discussion of mating (not in the fun soul mate way) and breeding with or without consent. While there were only 3ish explicit scenes there was a lot of talk and discussion surrounding those topics. I felt more comfortable bumping it up to a 2/3🌶️. Feel free to message me for more information!
**FYI: After reading, I was informed this author may have used AI in her cover art. I am firmly against the use of AI in the art industry.
