Limbus, Inc. by Jonathan Maberry, Joseph Nassise
5.0

Told in five interlocking stories, Limbus Inc. is an anthology that will make readers looking for a new job, or even seeking new employment from being unemployed think twice about advertisements and business cards with job offers. Each Limbus card has a tag line that reads, "How Lucky Do You Feel?" And after reading the experiences of the protagonists in each story, I'm not sure they do feel as lucky as they thought they would to find employment. Because Limbus Inc. is shrouded in mystery, it's kind of difficult to share the stories without spoiling them, but I will say this...of all of the stories I read, my favorites were "One Job Too Many" by Joseph Nasisse a story about a an ex-soldier who gets a very special assingment, and "Strip Search" by Jonathan Maberrry about a PI on a mission to stop a serial killer, who just so happens to have a secret of his own. While each story is different and creepy in its own way, they all blend together through the use of a singular character to pull the narrative together in a mini-story of his own. I feel that the execution of this collection was great. One reviewer compared this to The Outer Limits-which I loved growing up-and I won't argue with that comparison, because I truly felt like I was reading an episode of it. Each story was a page turner, and each was delightfully creepy, with just enough gore for those who enjoy that sort of thing. I won this book in a Goodreads contest, and I have to say it is worth the money to buy it, so if you're looking for an eerie, mysterious, and surprising read Limbus Inc. is the book for you.
