Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor

I tried. Dear lord how I tried to like this book, but I just couldn't. It has taken me nearly 4 months to finish this book. Picking it up and looking at the pages was a CHORE. The writing is not awful by any means I just didn't care.

I was intrigued by the story at the beginning and that mystery of what this world Karou was really all about but then I stopped caring. I read nearly 200 pages in one sitting but then I really had nothing in the story inspiring me or enticing me to pick it up again. Once Akiva showed up I really didn't care about the book anymore. Wooo mysterious boy is messing with portals she needs awesome! And now it's insta-love with an explanation coming 100+ pages later. Maybe I just didn't understand it and my reading comprehension is that of a 3rd grader or maybe I just wasn't paying attention but I'm not reading anymore.

The ''big reveal'' didn't shock me and I was just waiting for the story to end. I had no emotions about that ending because of course that has to happen there are two books left. I don't feel the romance between the two characters, it's forced and there is barely any chemistry. I love romance and I cant read many stories without it but I might have preferred this story left it out.

I Loved Zuzana tho <3
