The Private Life of the Hare by John Lewis-Stempel
4.0
informative slow-paced

I do enjoy these books which have a tight focus on a particular species. I enjoyed learning more about the hare (since I knew very little about it) in a nature sense (I didn't know they didn't have burrows or anywhere to hide, they just run or stay very still if they're young) but also in folklore and culture. I really enjoyed the mix of the biology sense but also pulling up parts of literature which talk about hares and the view they had in popular culture throughout the centuries.
