Wedding Song is a tale of love, deceit and death set in the backdrop of a theatrical play. Abbas, the playwright wrote something that has got people wondering if it's all fiction or carries morsels of sinister truth within. Told from four, stream of consciousness like perspectives, it reflects how different reality is for each. Through these people, it tells how over the time, something that was once beautiful changes into ugliness, love transforms into hate, idealism takes the form of debauchery.
The back and forth in time in each section is confusing in the beginning but as the novel progresses the picture becomes clearer and in the last section it takes into the mind of an artist. My personal favourite!
Wedding Song does and speaks a lot for a short novel.
