The premise of this book ticked all of my boxes. Fantasy, historical, witches, multiple perspectives, etc. THE LIST GOES ON. I really enjoyed it at first, I liked Helen a lot and I’m a sucker for a Luke type character. I really wanted to know more about the curse and where the story was going to go - which was very satisfying.
Aside from the positives, there was a lot that disappointed me. I wanted much more witchiness and a little less romance (and that’s a lot coming from me). I still don’t really understand the curse. I feel like the stories of the three lives were that interesting that they almost needed their own book each. Every time I moved onto the next, I didn’t care because I was still too invested in the previous one. The writing was pretty clunky, which I was expecting as I’d read it in other reviews, but it was hard to ignore.
I’m glad I read it and it’s definitely not a bad book, but it had the potential to be a new favourite of mine (think Addie LaRue…) but it just didn’t live up to my expectations.
