The Celery Stalks at Midnight by James Howe

4.0

Every time my daughter picks one of these up, she spends the afternoon collapsed in laughter. I really thought it was just a phase, but after three years of witnessing this, I've decided her joy in Bunnicula is here to stay. So after seeing her revisit Celery Stalks at Midnight over the summer (again), I decided it was high time I saw for myself what all the fuss was about.

Oh my goodness. It's a glorious, pet-driven, pun-ridden mess of a book and I, like my now 12-year-old, adored every single page of it.

I listened to it as an audiobook, and Victor Garber (of Alias fame) makes an absolutely wonderful Harold. He somehow manages to sound snooty and clueless all at once. Truly wonderful performance.
