Beware of Pity
by Stefan Zweig
Such a beautiful read. I read Zweig's Chess Story, and in so few pages he managed to create one of my favorite stories of all time. So when I found out about Beware of Pity, I felt as though it was a must read. And oh my, it was such a great book. Zweig creates such rich characters and such rich settings in such a short amount of pages, and with this novel, he is able to expand these characters and make such a smooth flowing story and you feel each characters' emotions and there is such depth in each scene. Genuinely such a powerful novel that explores the emotional depth of people and how we deal with pity, grief, identity and so many other things!!! Such a powerful, deeply immersive story.
