The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez

It is hard to put this one into words.

"This is a love story to its blade dented bone". It is. If you left it at that, it would encapsulate a lot of the book... but this wasn't a single love story, this was love stories. It was an ode to a certain type of first love yearning that everyone experiences. It was a love story about being connected to your land, your family, and your people. The kind of love that is put into you, you put unto others. A love story of how a mother loves her children, no matter what they are, or who she includes as her family.

To do all of this... and be exciting, fast paced, and full of action.

It was wonderful, beautiful, and emotional. I want to write all about it, but it feels like when you tug the type of heartstrings this book does, you can't just slap pros and cons together. It is special to me, for its own way.
